Walking toward goodYou can’t help but grow spiritually and mentally closer to God. You are — all of us are — made spiritually in the image and likeness of Spirit, God (Genesis 1:26-27). So in fact, you’re at one with God — you’re forever loved, close, and surrounded by the one infinite God, who is good and is Love itself. It’s only natural for you to want to grow closer to Love and to seek Love because you’re made from the substance of divine Love itself.

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
—Jeremiah 31:3

We aren’t evolving into being spiritual. We are spiritual and we’re growing out of our material beliefs, concepts, and fears. By understanding God, divine Love, better, we learn more about our true identity as God’s children — as heirs to the infinite Kingdom. It’s so natural to be drawn close to Love — because Love itself is the very basis and substance of who we are. This is what Jesus proved and shared with us — demonstrating through his glory why grace and goodness are calling us ever Spirit-ward and away from materiality into spirituality.

Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. Thus Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is intact, universal, and that man is pure and holy.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.476:32-5

Don’t resist the good — but be willing to protect yourself from what isn’t good, pure, holy. Start every day in prayer — daily defend yourself by taking at least a few moments to acknowledge that you’re loved, cared for, and safe in God’s care because you are God’s image and likeness. You can’t escape the goodness of God — so don’t resist spiritual goodness and purity. Say yes to the fact that you’re being drawn close to God. Let God’s leading uplift you on a moment by moment basis and don’t be afraid of the good it brings, nor any adversity. You’ll be kept safe under every circumstance.

Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, hath elevated them to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual idea of man and his divine Principle, Love.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.45:16
